Acer to Pre-Install Microsoft Apps on Phones, Tablets

The Taiwanese mobile device maker has struck a deal with Microsoft to pre-install the software behemothic's services and apps on its Android smartphones and tablets. Starting in the 2nd half of the year, Acer will include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, OneDrive, and Skype on "select" mobile devices.

"By integrating the Microsoft software suite, Acer customers volition bask productivity on-the-become along with the familiar computing experience on their smartphones and tablets," ST Liew, president of Acer's smart products business concern group said in a argument.

Acer joins a growing list of companies that plan to or are already offering Microsoft's apps on their devices. Last Spring, 31 device manufacturers were offering Microsoft'due south productivity apps and services on their Android tablets and phones. Now, that number has risen to 74 hardware makers in 25 countries, Microsoft announced.

Yous'll already find Microsoft's apps pre-installed on a number of popular Android devices, including the LG G Pad ii, Samsung Milky way S6, and Sony Xperia Z4. For Redmond, the goal is to bring its services to "every person on every device."
